Hedgehogs are highly adaptable and have no environmental requirements. strict. But hedgehogs like to be quiet and are afraid of light, and have the habit of hiding in the day and coming out at night. It is best to choose a quiet place with less human interference for home breeding. It is best to keep it in the yard for families with a courtyard. If there is no condition, it can be kept on the balcony. Use an 80 cm square wooden box to build a nest for the hedgehog, and cover the nest with hay, pine leaves or straw. It is best to build a small mound or rockery with stones and soil outside the nest and plant flowers and plants to make it as close to the wild environment as possible for hedgehog activities.

Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals and can be fed with feed and clean water around dusk. Hedgehogs are omnivores, and in the wild they mainly survive by preying on various invertebrates and small vertebrates, as well as grass roots, fruits, melons and other plants. For family breeding, you can prepare your own feed, and feed it with meat scraps, grains and by-products, vegetables, etc. in proportion. In addition, caterpillars, beetles, snails, earthworms and other small animals and fruits can also be fed.

If hedgehogs freshly caught in the wild are artificially domesticated, animal feed should account for 80% of the food. In the future, it can be gradually reduced and the proportion of plant food will be increased. The feed fed must be fresh and clean, and fruits and vegetables must be washed before feeding. For example, vegetables bought from the market should be soaked in a pool for 1 hour before being washed and fed to prevent pesticide poisoning. At the same time, the feed should be diversified. A single feed will cause hedgehogs to bite each other and refuse to eat.
