Tumors are pathological new organisms formed by cell proliferation and abnormal differentiation of normal tissue cells in the animal body under the influence of different pathogenic factors.
1
Cause
Tumor tissue It has a special metabolic process, has no growth pattern, loses normal cell functions, destroys the original organ structure, consumes a lot of nutrients in the animal body, damages the body, and even threatens life.
2
Symptoms
Based on pathological morphology, tumors are divided into benign tumors and malignant tumors. Joint cavity tumors in turtles are usually benign. Swelling of joints, easily palpable tumors, and abnormal crawling function are the main symptoms of joint cavity tumors.

Treatment and care
Treatment principles: surgical removal and careful care.
1. Surgical therapy. Use debridement to remove the tumor. Surgical steps:
(1) Use a scalpel to cut the skin at the most protruding part of the tumor longitudinally;
(2) Use a hemostat to clamp the tumor and remove it.
(3) Rinse the joint cavity repeatedly with saline, and then sprinkle antibiotic powder on it after cleaning.
(4) If bleeding is prolonged, use sterilized cotton swabs to apply pressure to stop the bleeding. If necessary, inject ethylamine (hemostasis sensitive) injection to stop the bleeding.
2. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Systemic application of antibiotics: Amoxicillin or cephalosporins are selected, and the administration method is intraperitoneal injection. Local administration: flush the wound cavity with normal saline, and then spread antibiotic powder after cleaning. After the wound exudation stops, use 5% povidone-iodine solution for sterilization and disinfection.
3. Nursing. Keep the turtle in a dry environment at 28-30℃, keep the wound dry and avoid touching water. For 5-9 days or longer after surgery, give water from a cup or use infusion to replenish body fluids.
