Scabs on cats do not necessarily mean ringworm. Scabs can be caused by a variety of reasons, including skin infections, allergies, parasitic infections, and more. When we find scabs on our cats, the first thing we should do is take them to the veterinarian for a diagnosis. If ringworm is diagnosed, your veterinarian will prescribe antifungal medication to treat it. If it is not ringworm, your veterinarian will give you a treatment plan based on the specific situation.
While waiting for the veterinarian's diagnosis and treatment, we can take some measures to reduce the cat's discomfort. First, keep your cat’s skin clean and dry to avoid secondary infections. You can wash your cat's body with a mild detergent and apply some moisturizer once it's dry. Secondly, avoid letting cats come into contact with other pets or humans to avoid infection. Finally, provide cats with adequate food and water to maintain their immunity.
