Baby rabbits refer to rabbits that are weaned to about 3 months old. Its main characteristics are rapid growth and development, high demand for nutrients; imperfect digestive system; poor disease resistance, low digestion ability of crude fiber, gastric acid concentration in the stomach cannot reach the acidity of adult rabbits, and it is easy to be infected with the ball. Insect diseases; disease resistance is poor, mortality rate is high, and it is a difficult period to raise. The key is to strengthen feeding and management and do a good job in disease prevention.
1. Feeding
Feeds for raising young rabbits It should be small in size, easy to digest, rich in nutrients, good in palatability, and low in crude fiber. The concentrate should be made of bran, bean cake, corn, etc., with a small amount of alfalfa powder added; the green feed should be green, tender and fresh, and do not feed feed with high crude fiber content. Feed regularly and quantitatively, add small amounts frequently, and observe the softness and hardness of rabbit feces, as well as the digestion quality, and adjust the feeding amount reasonably. For young rabbits with weak physique, an appropriate amount of milk, goat milk or milk powder can be mixed into the diet for better results; for young rabbits reserved for breeding, it is necessary to prevent them from being over-fat and affecting their breeding use.
Young rabbits should be raised in a warm, clean, dry place and divided into small groups according to their age and physical strength. It is appropriate to keep 3 to 4 animals in each cage, and 15 to 20 animals in groups. Young rabbits are susceptible to coccidiosis, especially during the rainy season. Onions, garlic or anti-coccidial drugs should be added to the feed to prevent it. Young rabbits should be weighed regularly, usually every 10 to 15 days, in order to keep track of the growth of the rabbits. If they have been growing well, they can be kept as reserve breeding rabbits; if they grow slowly, they should be kept alone Feed and observe carefully. Male and female rabbits about 4 months old should be selected and raised. If the seeds are reserved, they should be cultivated. Otherwise, they should be used as commercial rabbits.
2. Management
Because young rabbits are sensitive to environmental changes It is relatively sensitive, so management should pay attention to strengthening nursing work, especially paying attention to keeping warm and cold. Young rabbits are prone to a variety of infectious diseases, so it is very important to prevent them. Inject rabbit plague vaccines on time, and do a good job in epidemic prevention. At the same time, keep the cage clean and disinfected to reduce the occurrence of diseases. Especially in the prevention of coccidiosis, because young rabbits have low resistance to coccidiosis and are prone to outbreaks of coccidiosis, it is very important to keep the rabbit house dry, especially in the rainy season. Onions and garlic can be added to the feed for prevention. Conduct a fecal examination after weaning. If coccidial oocysts are found, treatment measures should be taken immediately. If there are no laboratory conditions, the observation should be strengthened. If it is found that the feces of young rabbits are not granular, the eyeballs are light red or lavender, and the abdomen is enlarged, coccidiosis can be suspected and isolation treatment is required.
