Commonly used disinfection methods for parrots include physical disinfection and chemical disinfection. 3. Commonly used chemical disinfectants

(1) Bleaching powder is often used to disinfect aviaries, bird cages and the environment. Used for disinfection of various infectious diseases, the usable concentration is 10% ~20%.

(2) Lysol is a reddish-brown transparent oily liquid. Strong bactericidal power. 3% ~ 5% solution is used to disinfect aviaries, bird cages and various utensils; 1% ~ 3% solution is used to treat lice and scabies.

(3) Use 75% alcohol to disinfect instruments and skin.

(4) A 5% concentration of iodine can kill spores within 10 minutes, and a 10% concentration can kill fungi within 10 minutes. Generally, 3% or 5% is applied to the affected parts of the bird and its wounds.

(5) A solution of 0.1%~0.2% chlormethionine can be used for disinfection of skin, mucous membranes, wounds and surgical instruments.

(6) Use phenol at a concentration of 3%-5% to disinfect bird cages, floors and various utensils. Since this product is highly corrosive and irritating, the sterilized utensils and drinking fountains must be rinsed with clean water after each disinfection.

(7) Peracetic acid is a strong oxidizing agent, which has a powerful and rapid killing effect on bacteria, viruses, and spores. It can be used to clean bird cages, birdhouses, walls, floors, and appliances, etc. disinfect. It can be made into a 0.2%~0.5% solution and sprayed, or you can use 5.15ml of the original solution per cubic meter of space, dilute it into a 5% solution, and heat and re-evaporate for 1~2 hours.

(8) Potassium peroxide can be used as a 0.1% solution to disinfect drinking utensils, tableware, fruits and vegetables. It should be noted that they must be washed before feeding.

(9) Bird disinfectant, composed of sodium hypochlorite, is colorless, odorless, harmless and does not need to be diluted. It can be sprayed directly on bird cages, birdhouses, bird utensils and the surrounding environment of birds.
