The total number of deciduous teeth in young dogs is 28, including twelve deciduous incisors, four deciduous canines and fourteen premolars. These deciduous teeth begin to grow gradually when puppies are about 20 days old, and they will all grow in around 2 months old. The deciduous teeth are tender white and slightly transparent.
As puppies grow, these deciduous teeth will gradually be replaced by permanent teeth at about 3 to 4 months old, until about 8 months old At age 1, all deciduous teeth will fall out and permanent teeth will begin to grow.
