In rabbit breeding, it is often encountered that some female rabbits appear to be in labor 16-18 days after mating. The female rabbit's breasts swell and she starts to pick grass and pull fur to make a nest. However, after waiting for a few days, nothing happens. The birth of a baby rabbit is a false pregnancy. False pregnancy not only delays the breeding of rabbits, but also affects and consumes the physical strength of the female rabbit, causing economic losses. In order to reduce or eliminate the occurrence of false pregnancy, the following measures can be taken:
1. For breeding rabbits, first establish a pedigree Group numbers, establish breeding cards for male rabbits and female rabbits respectively, so that mating and birthing are recorded, so that incest relatives are not matched, immature rabbits are not matched, and they are not matched during the peak molting period and hot weather such as wind, rain, snow, etc.
2. Adopt repeated breeding and double breeding methods. Generally, breeding rabbit farms adopt the repeated breeding method, that is, the same male rabbit is used for the second mating 5-6 hours after the first breeding. . Commercial rabbit farms can adopt the double breeding method, that is, 15 minutes after the first male rabbit mates, another male rabbit is used to mate once. Male breeding rabbits that have not been used for a long time must be re-bred within 6-8 hours after breeding.
3. Strengthen feeding and management, do a good job in cleaning and disinfection, increase exercise time for breeding rabbits, and prevent excessive obesity . Do not catch or pet female rabbits at will. In addition to prompting the female rabbit to go into estrus, the male rabbit in love is generally not allowed to chase and climb on the female rabbit at will. Breeding female rabbits should be kept in separate cages, keeping one rabbit in one cage to prevent some female rabbits from climbing over other female rabbits after going into estrus.
4. Female rabbits should be re-mated 5-7 days after mating, and fetal examination should be performed 10-12 days after mating to facilitate timely re-mating and prevent infertility or false pregnancy.
