Generally speaking, most cats can give birth to 4 to 6 kits in one litter, which is a relatively common situation. However, if it is the first litter, the number may be less, probably 1 to 3 pups.
Some breeds, such as long-haired cats like Persian cats, may have only 2 to 4 pups in one litter. For breeds such as Oriental Shorthair and Siamese cats, the number of litters may be larger, up to 6 to 8 cubs. In rare cases, the number of cats in a litter can even reach around 12.
