As a type of bird, quail are relatively sensitive to the surrounding environment. This is an instinctive reaction of birds and can easily cause symptoms of stress reaction. If the egg-laying bird is frightened, it will become weak. Shell eggs may have difficulty in giving birth or the egg production rate will decrease, but appropriate pleasant music can also promote quail egg laying, which is also a natural instinct of birds.
1. Temperature; the suitable temperature in the quail house during the laying period is 22-25 degrees , if the temperature is lower than 15 degrees, it will affect the egg production rate, and if the temperature is lower than 10 degrees, egg production will stop. Quail can tolerate high temperatures, but if they are exposed to high temperatures for a long time, their egg production rate will also decrease significantly. Therefore, during the raising process of laying quail, it is necessary to strengthen the warmth in winter and do a good job in cooling in summer.
2. Humidity; Humidity is also one of the main factors affecting quail egg laying. The most important manifestation is that excessive humidity will accelerate the growth and reproduction of harmful bacteria, affecting the health of quails. The suitable humidity is 50%-55%.
3. Ventilation; this is crucial, and may be relatively simple to implement in today’s large-scale modern farms. However, family farming and old shed farming are indeed the areas where problems are most likely to arise. Quail are poultry that are raised at a relatively high density, and the quail that lay eggs have a relatively strong metabolism. The feces of female quails contain relatively high levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. The decomposition of these substances produces high concentrations of harmful gases such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and exhaled carbon dioxide, which have an impact on the health of both quails and humans. Therefore, timely ventilation is very necessary. It should be maintained at 3-4㎡/hour in summer and 1㎡/hour according to temperature changes in winter, but draft should be avoided.
Four. Lighting and breeding density; this is mainly the case in family farms and old sheds In the breeding of breeding houses, you cannot blindly pursue quantity and increase density. You must make reasonable plans based on the actual conditions of your own breeding site and the breeding species. Reasonable lighting can also increase egg production. The lighting principle during the laying period is that the lighting time cannot be shortened and the light intensity cannot be weakened.
Although the breeding of quail is a bit rougher than that of other poultry, for the sake of breeding efficiency, scientific and reasonable breeding management must be done.
